As everyday goes by we inch closer and closer to warmer weather in Chicago. Not that the temperatures will get that high, but everyday should see average temperatures hovering between 34 degrees and 39 degrees. So what does that mean? Well for one you need to account for the low temperatures for each day which typically hit overnight and after sundown. That puts us in a tough spot as we think about home heating and what temperatures we will set our thermostats. If you have a programmable thermostat you should adjust your home temperatures slightly but you should also consider whether your furnace is operating at optimum condition as the furnace season winds down.
For some, this may be as easy as getting a clean & check performed to clean and inspect your furnace. For others it will be a good time to determine if they should consider purchasing a new furnace and perhaps a new air conditioning system as well. You can get an excellent deal on a new furnace and air conditioner as we approach the midway point between seasons. Many heating & cooling companies will begin to offer preseason sales on heating & cooling systems.
If you choose a financing option you can make a purchase now and have the installation done when the weather is more advantageous, particularly for your air conditioning unit. What you can do now is keep your system running efficiently by performing the yearly furnace maintenance. This will insure that even if you have your furnace on in April when Chicago is known to get snow and unseasonal weather conditions you will be comfortable and have a system that is saving you money on utility bills by running efficiently.
