An old customer of mine called me to tell me his air conditioner was working fine. Was he bragging or complaining? Neither really, he was thanking me because he was happy!
Stuck in His Ways
For the past five years my customer, now friend of mine had me piece together his ancient air conditioner. Every year I would ask him when he was going enter this century and get a unit that wasn’t run by a hamster on a wheel. It was a running joke between us until he sat down and looked at what he was spending on electricity to run that antique. His utility bills were outrageous, and after 30 + years of good service his old unit just couldn’t run for a full season with out a little help from me.
Finally Time for a Change…
After 5 years of insisting that his air conditioner was worth keeping, he finally purchased a new high efficiency system, and he couldn’t be happier! According to his last electricity bill he is already saving money and what probably surprised him the most was the improvement in the quality of cooling. He said he has never felt so comfortable in his home, and thanked me for getting on his case about his old system.
We still see each other for his spring air conditioner check up and cleaning, and every fall I go out there to service his furnace. Now I just have to convince him that his old furnace is out of style and he will be set to save money and stay comfortable all year round!
